Youth ministry at the United Methodist Church of New Canaan offers a variety of programs intended to develop and enrich the faith of our youth, while encouraging them in leading a Christian life.
Junior High & Senior High Youth Fellowship
The United Methodist Junior High (Grades 6-8) and Senior High (Grades 9-12) Youth Groups bring young people together to learn, laugh, explore their faith, and serve their community. The two groups meet several times each month on Sunday afternoons. The strong outward focus of the groups recognizes that faith goes beyond the church and into the world.
Special Events
Special events include an annual church-wide Thanksgiving Dinner with entertainment/talent provided by the youth. Car washes and other fundraising activities help support the groups’ mission work. Recent mission trips have taken the senior high youth to Appalachia. The youth also present an annual Youth Sunday Service each spring, with the sermon, music and all aspects of the church service handled by the youth.
The UMC Youth Fellowship will be visiting and serving at The Food Bank of New Canaan. The Youth will be collecting non holiday food items to stock the shelves.
How To Get Involved
Interaction with all generations of our congregation is treasured by the youth. If you have a special skill or interest that you would like to share with our youth groups, or if you’d simply like to offer a warm heart and willing hands in assisting our youth activities, please contact the Director of Children and Youth Ministries or the Chairperson for the Youth Committee.
